SEC Chinese Syllabuses: Official Links for G1, G2, G3 and Higher Chinese
Find the official 2027 SEAB Chinese syllabus PDFs for G1, G2, G3 and Higher Chinese, with a short guide to choosing and using the right document.

Before choosing practice papers or planning revision, it helps to check one document: the official examination syllabus. It gives families and teachers a shared starting point, rather than relying on a resource labelled simply “secondary Chinese”.
This page brings together the 2027 SEC Chinese syllabuses currently listed by SEAB for school candidates. The year matters: choose the document for the year in which the student will sit the examination. G1, G2 and G3 refer here to subject levels, not labels for everything a student studies.1
Choose the right syllabus
G1 Chinese Language — K120
Start here if the student takes Chinese at G1. The document sets out the learning objectives and assessment requirements, including written components, oral communication and listening. Read its own examination format rather than assuming that a G2 or G3 practice paper will be suitable.

G2 Chinese Language — K220
Use this syllabus for G2 Chinese. Its examination format and blueprint help you check what each component assesses, how much it contributes and what types of tasks students should practise. Keep the subject code alongside any revision materials you select.

G3 Chinese Language — K320
This is the document for G3 Chinese, not Higher Chinese. It is useful when checking requirements for writing, language use and comprehension, oral communication and listening. Match practice to the specified tasks before deciding how much work to assign.

G3 Higher Chinese Language — K355
Higher Chinese has its own syllabus. Consult it for writing, comprehension and oral requirements, including the oral presentation and discussion. It does not have a separate listening-comprehension paper; do not substitute the ordinary G3 Chinese syllabus when planning examination practice.

How I suggest using these documents
Check the year, subject name and code first. Then read the examination format and assessment blueprint before the detailed criteria. Note the tasks the student needs to practise and return to the syllabus when a requirement is unclear.
You do not need to memorise the document. Use it as a reference for making better learning decisions, not as another item on the student's revision checklist.
Sources and version check
Checked: 27 September 2026. All four PDF links above are SEAB's official 2027 documents. The short descriptions refer to their objectives, examination format and blueprint sections; the study advice is my own. These are examination syllabuses, not collections of past papers.
If a PDF moves, use the SEAB school-candidate syllabus directory, select the relevant year and level, and look under Local Subjects. Always follow subsequent SEAB updates and school guidance.
